A little bit of this and that!

Create....

Ok so now it is time for me to fess up! LOL. Some of you knew that I entered this years For Keeps Elite Team competition. This is my first year of entering anything like this and I did it more for the challenge then anything else. I had fun, put absolutely no pressure on myself and scrapped from my heart. After all... I love this craft, the product, the playing and most importantly the people. I was really happy with my layouts and stayed true to my style. I know that my "style" is not for everyone but it is mine.... I have developed it over the years and finally comfortable in my own scrapping skin. Don't get me wrong I constantly look at the mags and my scrapping friends work and think "WOWSERS!! I wish I could scrap like that" But I know that if I can't that is ok too. I am happy with me and how I scrap. If others enjoy it along the way then that is an added bonus!!! Well someone at For Keeps must have liked my work because they have kept two of my layouts!!! How cool is that!!!! My first time published in For Keeps... well I assume they are going to be published. LOL. Anyway I will wait and see. Funny thing is my favourite layout of the bunch didn't make the cut. Go figure... I guess you just don't know what they are looking for. Anyway over the next few days I will share my 3 remaining entries. Starting off with my favourite. This was the very last layout that I did. I was totally stuck for an idea and was chatting to Nic on the phone about a theme and she came up with this one for me. This layout is about Jack's obsesson with Dr Who.

My boys are in print....

Ok so I am little excited because my boys are in print in the new issue of Scrapbooking Memories. Remember way back here when Rach photographed our family?? Well she contacted me to see if it was ok to use a picture of the boys for an article in Scrapbooking Memories. Of course I said yes!! I had actually forgotten all about it until Lyn rang me to tell me. Hee hee hee.. Thanks again Rach!!

Santa photo....

Today we headed off for the annual photo with Santa. The boys look forward to this every year. They love to sit on Santa's knee and tell him what they would like for Christmas. This year Dr Who and Harry Potter are high on the list. These are the magical moments of Christmas that I wish would last forever. (My poor boys are going to be sitting on Santa's knee until they leave school. LOL.) You can see how much the boys have changed over the last year by checking out last years photo here. Now that the Santa photo is done it is definately beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

Happy colours....

Do you love bright colours? I do .... they make me smile.... make me happy.... make me wanna sing!! Today I headed off to the scrap store only to buy some adhesive and I came home with happy colours. This felt was just calling out my name. Oh and you should have seen some more of the printed felt! Too cute...
Have been working on my December kit from Lime Tart. Let's just say I got all messy today with lots of paint... but you will have to wait and see. A little project that is coming along nicely. Still trying to work out what else I am going to do with this kit. I am sure the inspiration will come to me when I least expect it.
I was hoping to do some scrapping just for me today as well to share but alas.... it hasn't quite turned out that way.
Andrew and I are heading out to dinner tonight. Just off to Hogs Breath Cafe . Yummo I love it there. Then we are going to go to the movies. Not sure yet what we want to see.

Ok so technically it is not happy mail because it was hand delivered by Lyn who picked it up for me but I now have THIS BABY!!! in my hot little hands. Oh the possibilities!! Hee hee hee... now all I want for Christmas is more time to scrap!! GRRRR..... finding the time is just becoming impossible especially at this time of the year. Lots on with the kids, work and life in general. SIGH............
Well my working week is finished which is always a good thing. I am hoping to find sometime tomorrow to work on my Christmas cards....fingers crossed. Saturday Jack has a birthday party to go to and Ben will go to work with Andrew so hopefully some more free time there too. Other then that a nice quiet weekend which I think I need with the onslaught of Christmas almost upon us.

Mid month Creating Garden....

Ok so I know that I am about a week late for the mid month Garden at 2peas. I guess with all the excitement of Andrew's birthday I kinda forgot about it. Some of my favourites include:

• 1,2,3,4,5 - Lisa - love love love this!! The whole thing... the whole kit and kaboodle.
• Advent Calender/holiday journal - Erica - I *heart* Erica. Love what she does.
• 4th Birthday - Rachel - love the embellishment cluster and hey it's a boy page and I am always on the lookout for inspiring boy pages.
• I Hate Ants - Jennifer - this layout made me giggle.
• User Inspiration: Renee Coffey  - ok so I am a little biased here!!! A layout inspired by my beautiful friend Renee Coffey.
• User Inspiration - Love - love the simplicity of this layout. Also the colour against the kraft.

The weekend....

Well we are finally back after a FANTASTIC weekend in Canberra. It was so great to catch up with Jan and Norm again. On Saturday I got to catch up with Nic for about an hour over a Krispy Kreme. The donut sundaes are to die for!! LOL. Saturday night Norm outdid himself in the culinary stakes cooking us up a storm. Lots of yummy food!!!  Sunday morning was another feast of bacon, eggs, sausages and the most divine corn fritters I have ever tasted. I also got to catch up with Philippa for a bit at the new Borders bookstore in the city. WOW that place is amazing! I got my December kit for Lime Tart. If you though last months was good you wait until you see this months. Can't wait to get started on my project. Then Sunday night we headed off to the surprise for Andrew's birthday. Firstly we had dinner at APK in the city. Yummy food!!! Then it was off to the Kasey Chambers concert. It was awesome!!!!! She was amazing and the support act were great as well. We had such a great night and of course a great weekend. But alas we have to now come back to reality and get back into the working week. Hope everyone has had a great weekend.

 

Happy mail and other stuff....

Woo hooo I got me some happy mail the other day. Finally got hold of the AL Journaling Stamps. Thanks heaps Belinda. Can not wait to play with these!!! They are such a cool size and the mind just starts racing with what I can do with them!!!
How crazy has the weather been the last few days? We have pretty much had four seasons in one week. Did you see the snow down in Mt Hotham the other day? Best snow they have had all year and it is November. Like hello.... ummm the ski season is OVER!! Makes it hard for me to decide to what clothes to take this weekend to Canberra, cause you just never know. Can't wait to get away. Catching up with Nic, Philippa and hopefully Rachie too. It is going to be a full on weekend. I want to get in some Christmas shopping whilst I am there too.. somehow!! LOL. Lots better shopping there then here that's for sure. We have a family dinner on Saturday night and then also a family breakfast on Sunday morning. Then Sunday night is the special surprise for Andrew... but you will have to wait and see for that one!
Heading off to the school this afternoon as the boys have their annual Jogathan at school. They have to run 10 laps. The Kindy, Year 1 and Year 2 kids have a smaller circle to run. Then year 3 and 4 have a bit larger circuit whilst Year 5 and 6 have a HUGE one to run! Glad it is them and not me... (just so not a runner!)

Happy Birthday Andrew....

Today is a super special day because it is my gorgeous hubbies birthday.  36 years going on about 18!! Trust me this boy still hasn't grown up yet. ;) Currently in the middle of making him a birthday cake so no photos to share of that just yet. This weekend we are off to Canberra for a special surprise that Jan and Norm have organised for his birthday. But shhhh can't tell just yet. So I will leave with a photo that was taken on this day back in 1971 on his first birthday.

The Zest news....

I am very excited today because it is my first month in the gallery for Lime Tart. This month I got to play with the bright and funky 6x6 kit. I was able to make a heap of cards, 2 8x8 layouts and a CD Mini Album. You can check out the Zest News full of lots of inspiration. You can also check out the rest of the gallery here.
